On this review I will be reviewing the new David Byrne album which was released on the 9th March 2018. It's the eleventh studio album by 'David Byrne' called "American Utopia".
David Byrne is a Scottish-American singer, songwriter, musician, record producer, artist, writer, actor, and filmmaker. He was the founding member of the American New Wave band 'Talking Heads' which were formed in 1975 and split up from 1991. 'Talking Heads' have released great albums such as the masterpiece and my favourite Talking Heads album "Remain In Light". Other albums they have released such as "Speaking In Tongues", "Fear Of Music", "True Stories", "Little Creatures" and many more. David was the lead vocalist and guitar player from 'Talking Heads'. Mr Byrne has recieved several awards like an Academy Award, Grammy, and Golden Globe. He has also been inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. I have heard of David Byrne's solo work but I do not listen to it that much. I do not listen to 'Talking Heads' that much but I sometimes listen to them but not often. He famously known as well for working with 'Brian Eno' one of the greatest producers of all time. David Byrne is an important figure to 70s 80s music which includes Rock, New Wave, Art Pop. Discussing about his discography he has released eleven studio albums. It has been 14 years since he released a solo album. His last solo album was in 2004 called "Grown Backwards". During that time he has released collaborative albums with Brian Eno, Norman Cook also known as Fatboy Slim, and St. Vincent. Discussing about his new album "American Utopia" after hearing his new album what did I think of it? I just want to say welcome back David Byrne after 14 years since he released his solo album. I thought it was a good album a really interesting project. It's great seeing David Byrne back.
Moving on to my favourite tracks on the album starting with "Gasoline And Dirty Sheets" quite an 80s indie pop track catchy production and alright lyrics I like it. "Every Day Is A Miracle" kind of this pop and it sound a bit like reggae tropical track. Which is alright. "This Is That" it's a decent track with decent lyrics and production. "It's Not Dark Up Here" which is a great track quite catchy I like it. Interesting lyrics and production as well. I like the part when David says Heyyy. "Doing The Right Thing" which is my number one favourite defintley his best track on the album. Good vocals, lyrics production. "Everybody's Coming To My House" which is an alright track it's not that bad. My least favourite track was "I Dance Like This" which I found a bit weird if I am being honest.
Overall it's great to see that David is back after 14 years since his last solo studio album. It's a good album. I would listen to it again. It's a 7/10.
