Rating: 7/10
Favourite Tracks: Lazy Love, Like The Sun, Bitter Medicine, The Blue Sky, Sundays
Least Favourite Track: Hunned Bandz
On this review I will be reviewing the debut album by 'Tanukichan' which was released on the 13th July 2018 last month. It's the debut album from 'Tanukichan' called "Sundays".
Tanukichan also known as Hannah Van Loon is an alternative indie artist who I do not know that well. I first discovered Tanukichan from bandcamp. Bandcamp is a site where it's like Soundcloud and Myspace but it's a site to make money through promoting your album. Bandcamp is where fans can stream and buy the album. Since growing up she was making classical music. And she was playing the violin, keyboard, bass, and guitar. Hannah experimented bluegrass and jazz together. Unexpectedly she fell into making pop music with a band from San Francisco called "Trails And Ways". She went on tour and performed with them for four years. After that she decided to focus on being solo and making her own music again. She was then introduced by a mutual friend. Chaz Bear of 'Toro Y Moi' and 'Les Sins'. Chaz helped Hannah to rework most of her songs to take her into a new direction. She has released an EP called "Radiolove" back in 2016. Which I have not heard since I just discovered her. She has released her full length debut album which is quite a short album. After hearing her debut album what did I think of it? I liked it I thought it was a good album. She's a great artist with a beautiful voice.
Moving on to my favourite tracks on the album starting with "Lazy Love" great intro to the track which sounds a bit like 'Young Fathers' it's a solid track. "Like The Sun" which reminds me of 80s smooth rock ballad it's a great track. "Bitter Medicine" I love the guitar intro from the start it kinds sounds like The xx first album back in 2009. "The Blue Sky" I love the build up of this track I thought it was alright it's like a track from the 80s. "Sundays" a solid track with great production and beautiful vocals from Tanukichan also known as Hannah. My least favourite track was "Hunned Bandz" it's like this aggressive rock which I am not to keen on but it's alright.
Overall it's a good album. It's great discovering new artists. I defintley recommend checking her music out since she's a new artist. I would listen to the album again. I am giving this album a 7/10.
