Chip League Of My Own II Album Review
Rating: 3/10
Favourite Tracks: Honestly, 34 Shots, Hit Me Up
Least Favourite Tracks: Gets Like That, Snap Snap
On this review I will be reviewing an album which was released this year back in August on the 11th August 2017. It is Chip's third studio album called "League Of My Own II".
Chip also known as "Chipmunk" also known as his birth name "Jamal Fyffe" is a rapper and a songwriter from Tottenham North London. He has been in the music scene since 2004 where at the time he was releasing independent Mixtapes. Since 2009 he became mainstream with his famously known song "Chip Diddy Chip". It is one of the songs that made me become a "Chipmunk" fan from back in the day. Another song which also made me a fan of his music was a song called "Diamond Rings". Which was a bit of a pop track. It was featured with Emeli Sande from back in the day. Sadly after 2015 I have stopped listening to his music since it was not the same as it used to be.Since 2015 he has released EP's which are not that good. Chip has released three studio albums. "I Am Chipmunk" which is his debut album released back in 2009. It was definitely a great debut album that I enjoyed listening to when I was 9 years old. His second studio album "Transition" which was released back in 2011. His famous song on this album was a song which was featured with Chris Brown called "Champion". Such a great song it was one of the songs that was played in my last day of primary school. 6 years later he releases his third studio album "League Of My Own II" and oh dear this album is terrible. It's just a different direction that Chip took to his career. This album does not sound as it supposed to sound from his previous two albums. This is just an album of Grime failure. He doesn't care about being mainstream. All he cares about is running the Grime scene which we all know he is not the best Grime artists in the Grime industry. However they are some decent collaborations on this album but it's just not for me. Some tracks are boring lazy production which makes me irritated.
My favourite tracks on this album were "Honestly", "34 Shots", "Hit Me Up". Starting with "Honestly" I did not really like the production on this track. However what made me like this track was the collaboration with two members of "67" "Dimzy", and "LD". Without these two the track would have been terrible. "34 Shots" Apparently this track was a diss track for "Yungen" and "Bugzy Malone". If im going to be honest I really liked this track despite I supported "Yungen" from 2015 when he dissed "Chip". "Hit Me Up" which is featured "Ella Mai" Such a smooth R&B song really liked this one. My least favourite tracks were two tracks which were "Gets Like That", "Snap Snap". "Gets Like That" Which is featured with "Ghetts". This track is awful the only thing that "Chip" does is just repeat himself over and over again. "Snap Snap" this was a failed love song in my opinion the production was alright since it has a bit of Afro-beat to it.
Overall I did not enjoy this album. It's an album where I do not see myself coming back to. The old "Chip" was better. I would give this album a 3/10
