Grizzly Bear Painted Ruins Album Review
Rating: 6/10
Favourite Tracks: Wasted Acres, Aquarian, Cut-Out, Neighbors
Least Favourite Track: Glass Hillside
On this review I will be reviewing an album which was released this year on the 18th August 2017. It is the fifth studio album from American indie band called "Grizzly Bear". The album is called "Painted Ruins".
"Grizzly Bear" are an American indie rock band who have been making music since 2004. The band experiments into different genres such as Experimental Rock, Indie Rock, Pop Rock and many more. I would classify myself as a fan of their music since their discography have been alright in the past few years. The band has released five albums which are "Horn Of Plenty" which is their debut album. It is one of those albums where I did not really enjoy that much. "Yellow House" was a decent album but not one of my favourites. "Veckatimest" is a great album I enjoyed most of the tracks on this album. "Shields" it is my personal favourite album of Grizzly Bear's discography. Such a fantastic album with a mixture of Barque pop, to indie rock, to a bit of psychedelic rock. 5 years later they are back with their fifth album "Painted Ruins". Since hearing this album what did I think of it? I thought this album was okay it wasent the best. Ive heard better albums from them but this was the album which was not that bad. It was okay but it did not really grab my attention.
My favourite tracks on the album were "Wasted Acres", "Aquarian", "Cut-Out", "Neighbors". Starting of with "Wasted Acres" I really liked the intro to this track it feels like an opener to a 90s game show. Great track. "Aquarian" loving the horn part on the starter with a bit of 70s rock influenced on this track. "Cut-Out" It's a decent track but not one of the strongest. "Neighbors" it's one of the strongest and underrated tracks on the album. My least favourite track on the album was a track called "Glass Hillside" Which in my opinion it's a weaker track.
Overall I found this album okay to listen to. Not sure if I would listen to it over again. Maybe I would listen to it again just dont know. I would give this album a 6/10
